"There were a lot of people blowing their horns and waving," said Bernie Wlock, one of the runners. "We're hoping that people who saw us and didn't stop will come by later with a donation."

The relay lasted from 3 p.m. until about 7:15 p.m., when the whole team ran the final stretch from York Road to Royal Ford. Each runner took two shifts of four km.

Right after the relay, the group had raised $845 for their cause. Royal Ford also hosted a garage sale, bake sale and barbecue over the weekend.

The national JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund) walk will be held in Yorkton on June 6th.
