Celebrate history

A chance to celebrate history-and make it-is the goal of the August 24 Olde Tyme Harvest in Langenburg, Sask.

The harvest, being held to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Canadian Foodgrains Bank, will find as many as 40 antique threshing machines harvesting a quarter-section of winter wheat in the eastern Saskatchewan community.

"We want to break the old record for having the most antique threshing machines operating at the same time, and raise money to help end global hunger," says Olde Tyme Harvest committee member Warren Kaeding.

"It's our little contribution to making a difference in the world."

With 33 threshing machines already committed to coming to the event, the Olde Tyme Harvest will break the old record of 29 established in Rock River, Wisconsin in 2008.

In addition to the threshing, the event will feature award-winning Saskatchewan singer Codie Prevost, comedian Steve StubbleJumpski, an eight acre corn maze, local crafts and other exhibits and attractions.

Funds raised at the Olde Tyme Harvest will be donated to the Foodgrains Bank, a partnership of 15 churches and church-based organizations working together to end global hunger.
