The Yorkton Chamber of Commerce is pleased to present the Federal Candidates' Forum at 7:00 pm Wednesday, April 13 at the Legion.

The Forum is a good opportunity for the constituents of the Yorkton-Melville riding to meet the candidates and hear their views on a variety of subjects.

Dolores Harris, President of the Yorkton Chamber, indicated that the forum is something the Chamber undertakes during city, provincial and federal elections.

"The Chamber feels it has a role to play in bringing candidates to the citizens," she said. "The forum enables the community to evaluate the candidates by asking them questions relevant to the local area."
Ron Irvine, Chairman of the Chamber's Public Policy committee likes the format of the forum adopted by the Chamber. "Once each candidate has delivered his or her opening remarks, the Chamber will ask each candidate to respond to the four questions we sent to them a couple of days earlier. Then questions will be taken from the floor," he explained.

Members of the audience who wish to pose a question will be given two choices. They can either write the question on one of the index cards provided at the door or they can address the candidates verbally.

The moderator will draw the written questions randomly and invite each Candidate to respond to the question. A couple of "roving" microphones will also be provided for the audience to ask questions directly.

All 4 candidates will participate in the forum, which will end at 9:00 pm.
