A 49-year-old Yorkton man accused of producing and possessing child pornography has pleaded not guilty.
Karl Vopni was charged in February following a months-long joint investigation between the Yorkton RCMP and the provincial Integrated Child Exploitation Unit (ICE).
In Yorkton Provincial Court June 28, Vopni chose to be tried by judge alone at Court of Queen’s Bench. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for October 25.
The accused is currently released on $5,000 cash bail and conditions including: living at an approved address, abiding by a 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. curfew, not consuming or possessing alcohol or non-prescription drugs, having no contact with persons under the age of 16, not being present at any location frequented by persons under the age of 16, not possessing pornography of any kind, and a prohibition on possessing or owning any electronic device connected to the Internet.
