Lorne Oystrick is being put forward by the City of Yorkton for a 2014 Meritorious Service Award.
"The SUMA Awards Banquet will be held in Feb. of 2014 in Regina. As in previous years, the City has endeavoured to recognize employees who have in excess of 20 years of service with the City of Yorkton," explained Chris Wentzell, Director of Human Services with the City at the regular meeting of Yorkton Council Monday.
Traditionally Council has approved up to four employees to attend the SUMA Banquet.
However, in 2014 only one employee is able to attend the Banquet, he said.
"There are over 30 employees with 20 or more years of service and many of these employees have previously attended the SUMA Banquet. Based on their length of service, and to get cross-representation of employees, we present the following name for Council's consideration," said Wentzell.
Oystrick's nomination was unanimously supported by Council.
