City of Yorkton warns residents to be careful after evidence of bear

The City of Yorkton is warning the public of a bear in the area. Taylor Morrison, the General Manager of the Gallagher Centre, said there had been evidence of a bear in the Logan Green area. "We were made aware of some bear tracks and scat.

The City of Yorkton is warning the public of a bear in the area.
 
Taylor Morrison, the General Manager of the Gallagher Centre, said there had been evidence of a bear in the Logan Green area.
 
"We were made aware of some bear tracks and scat."
 
Morrison said that if people see the bear, they should get away from the area and have their phone ready to call.
 
"If the bear is sited, they are asked to contact the Conversation Officer at 1-800-667-7561 or the RCMP Detachment at 1-306-786-2400," he said. "We want people to be using that bear safety like if you are out walking, you are making noise, you are letting your presence be known. This goes for the Logan Flats or any trail."
