City package recognized by EDAC

The City of Yorkton has won two Marketing Canada Awards from the Economic Development Association of Canada (EDAC).

The City of Yorkton has won two Marketing Canada Awards from the Economic Development Association of Canada (EDAC).

The awards were for the new Community Profile, in the single publication, over four pages category, and for the combined promotional bookmarks and postcard handouts highlighting the Yorkton lifestyle and employment opportunities.

"We're very happy to have received these awards in Calgary last week, said Roy Lanaway with the City at the regular meeting of Council Monday.

Lanaway said the awards were gratifying as they help "get some recognition on a Canada-wide basis."

"We are honoured to receive these awards," said Mayor Bob Maloney, in a release circulated Monday. "The winning items are part of a comprehensive marketing package for Yorkton. It was designed to assist all segments of the community in attracting both labour and investment to the city," he said.

Councillor James Wilson said the awards reflect well on City staff, congratulating those "who created this."

The package includes Community, Investor, Economic and Airport Profiles, the promotional postcards and bookmarks, as well as two videos. The videos and publications highlight the many aspects of Yorkton's continuing growth and development, the business community and lifestyle, as well as the changing demographics and increasing diversity of the community. The package also includes a credit card style USB containing an electronic version of all the publications and videos.

The marketing package was sponsored by the Economic Development Committee and produced by the City's Economic Development and Communications Departments.
