City plans street closures

The City of Yorkton will move to close portions of two streets and additional laneways to make way for the Brodie Avenue Storm Water Pond.

The City of Yorkton will move to close portions of two streets and additional laneways to make way for the Brodie Avenue Storm Water Pond.

The City will close portions of Brodie Avenue, Agriculture Avenue and laneways within the adjacent block, following unanimous consent of Yorkton Council at its regular meeting Monday.

"The closures will facilitate development of the Brodie Avenue storm water pond and will serve to properly delineate the built roadway at the Agricultural Avenue/Broadway Street intersection. The closures are linked together as portions of the closed streets and lanes will be acquired by the owner of 50 Broadway Street West, while at the same time, the City will acquire additional lands for the Brodie storm pond," detailed a report circulated to Council.

In accordance with The Cities Act and The Planning and Development Act, closure of the right-of-way requires a Council Bylaw.
