Clean-up week in city

The annual Residential Spring Clean Up Week Campaign again received the unanimous support of Yorkton Council at its regular meeting Monday.

The annual Residential Spring Clean Up Week Campaign again received the unanimous support of Yorkton Council at its regular meeting Monday.

"To encourage participation, City Council has previously waived the Landfill tipping fees for residential garbage hauled in by City residents by car, half-ton truck or single axle trailer. This campaign would strictly apply to schools and City of Yorkton residents hauling in their own refuse," stated Michael Buchholzer, Environmental Services Director with the City.

"This program has been well received by the residents of Yorkton with an average of approximately 540 cars, trucks or small trailers utilizing the service over the past five years. Normal average during this time period is approximately 90 units."

The week covers the period on Monday, May 9, to Saturday, May 14.
