Bruce Thurston, General Manager of the Yorkton Co-op, announced that the Yorkton Co-op has designated April 24 as Fill-Up for the Health of It day. The Yorkton Co-op will donate 10 cents a litre from all gasoline sold that day, from both of their Yorkton Gas bar locations, to The Health Foundation.

This program is timed to work with The Health Foundation's annual Airwaves for Health Radiothon, which takes place later this month, April 23rd and 24th. We will advertise this program over the next couple of weeks, and we will use the first day of the Radiothon to remind people to buy gas at the Yorkton Co-op the next day.

"The amount of money we will give away from our Fill-Up for the Health of It day is totally dependent on the people who live in this area," said Bruce Thurston. We hope people will put off buying their gas for a day or two so that they can fill up on April 24th and have the Co-op donate 10 cents a litre to The Health Foundation."

"We also hope that people who haven't normally bought gas from the Co-op will. We want people to come and check out the great service the Yorkton Co-op provides, and if they haven't been to our new Palliser Way location we want them to come and look at it and the great services we have," continued Mr. Thurston.

"We don't make 10 cents a litre on gas," said Mr. Thurston. "We are doing this because we think the work of The Health Foundation is important, and we want to help. We want to make a donation, but we also want to make that donation in a way that creates awareness of the need for those of us in the community to support this program and help expand and improve the healthcare that's available here."

"We think this Fill-Up for the Health of It program is a tremendous idea," said Ross Fisher. "Yorkton Co-op has always been a very strong supporter of the work of The Health Foundation, and we appreciate this idea. Hopefully a lot of people buy gas from the Yorkton Co-op on Tuesday April 24th, and help them donate a lot of money. I really like this program because it will raise awareness and hopefully it will inspire people to think about making a donation of their own.
