Two men accused of cocaine trafficking have been remanded in custody pending bail verification reports.
Trevonn Morlese (23) and Weyane Nega (25) were arrested January 19 following the execution of a search warrant by RCMP on a Yorkton residence. A large amount of cash was seized from the residence as well as marijuana, cocaine and alleged evidence of trafficking activity.
Both men face one count each of possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine, trafficking cocaine, possession of proceeds of crime over five thousand dollars, trafficking the proceeds of crime over five thousand dollars and money laundering.
A press release stated that Morlese was from Ontario and Nega from Quebec and the Crown opposed their release partially on that basis.
At a court appearance Monday, however, Morlese claimed he rents a house and lives in Yorkton. Judge Patrick Reis ordered a bail verification report for a show cause hearing January 26.
Nega also appeared in court Monday. He is also scheduled for a bail verification report and a show cause hearing Jan. 27.
