City Council was told at its Committee of the Whole meeting Monday that City Administration has been working with the developers of the former Rist property.

The report updated Council on the progress that Quance Park Developers Ltd. has made since assuming ownership of this property earlier this year.

The Rist development consisted of residential and commercial land uses, while the new developer's initial interest is in developing the commercial area before the residential, explained Gord Shaw, director of the City's Planning & Engineering Department.

As such, they have prepared tender documents for the construction of the service road for the commercial properties. This tender is expected to be issued very soon with construction to occur in the fall for the service road.

"Administration has worked with the developer over the past months. It is expected that development of the commercial properties will occur in such a manner that these will be ready for next spring or early summer. The developer is particularly keen on seeing the commercial component come to fruition before proceeding to the residential development," said Shaw, adding that Administration will be meeting with the developer during the week of August 22.

In addition, Shaw reported, there are some issues related to the flood plain and fringe that will need to be resolved between the City, the developer and Sask Environment. Discussions with all three parties will occur over the fall and winter period to be able to address any environmental issues related to this matter.
