Community plan bylaw passes first reading

Yorkton Council passed first reading Monday of a bylaw to start the process to adopt the City's new Community Plan.


Yorkton Council passed first reading Monday of a bylaw to start the process to adopt the City's new Community Plan.

"Each community is to have an up to date official community plan," detailed material circulated at the regular meeting of Yorkton Council.

"Planning Services presented the document to the April 16 meeting of the Planning & Infrastructure Commission, which recommended the document be forwarded to City Council for consideration of First Reading."

In terms of a document "Our City: Our Future is a forward looking document. It provides direction to City Council, committees as well as administration and others in the growth of the community. The purpose of this plan is to, "provide a comprehensive policy framework to guide the physical, environmental, economic, social and cultural development of the municipality or any part of the municipality"," the report said.

With first reading passed the notice for the public hearing Monday, June 9 will be advertised.
