SaskTel Internet customers now have access to a new service that offers increased protection from cyber attacks and identity theft. SaskTel Internet Threat Detector detects online threats, sends alerts, and provides step-by-step instructions for removing detected threats from the customer's computer.
There are two versions of the service available to customers. The No Cost option incorporates targeted online advertising. The Paid option costs $3.95 per month and is ad-free. Both versions provide the same level of protection.
"While the Internet offers tremendous benefits in terms of communication, entertainment and commerce, there are also substantial risks," said Stacey Sandison, Chief Marketing Officer. "With SaskTel Internet Threat Detector, we're offering better protection from online threats such as identity theft at little or no cost to our customers."
Once a customer opts in to the service, SaskTel Internet Threat Detector immediately begins to analyze the customer's internet traffic for possible threats, without slowing down the customer's computer or Internet connection. When a threat is detected the service sends an alert to the customer by email or text message.
SaskTel Internet Threat Detector complements a customer's existing anti-virus protection. Because it resides on the SaskTel network, the service is always on, always up to date and criminals can't disable it.
