It may be summer vacation, but the Yorkton Arts Council is busy preparing for their 39th "Stars For Saskatchewan" concert series. They would like to remind current and new subscribers that the early bird deadline for purchasing series subscriptions is Wednesday, July 31. "The advantage of buying series tickets over individual tickets is substantial savings: 44% for adults, and 47% for seniors. It's like four single tickets free," says Margaret Cugnet, committee chair for Performing Arts, Yorkton Arts Council.
A series subscription is an amazing value for nine exceptional concerts. This year's line-up consists of "Memory Lane featuring Stephen Maguire" with favorite songs of the 40's, 50's and 60's; singer-songwriter-pianist Jeffery Straker; the exuberant PEI energy of Gordie MacKeeman and his Rhythm Boys; a very special Christmas show with Jimmy Rankin; the internationally renowned ensemble singing of Musica Intima; a musical journey of Vintage Vegas with John Gracie; the unique and upbeat performance style of string trio Infinitus; the artistry, musicianship and fashion style of Guy Few and Nadina Mackie Jackson; and to complete the year, the spirited step-dancing-fiddle-playing musical styles of Everything Fitz.
The concerts feature something for everyone, and are a wonderful opportunity to see exceptional performers right here at home. While some names may be familiar to the audience, some are delights still to be discovered. For more information about these shining Stars, log on to www.yorktonarts.ca and check out each performer; you'll find information plus quick links to their websites.
Series subscriptions are available at the Yorkton Arts Council office, 49 Smith Street East, Yorkton, or call (306)783-8722. Remember that early-bird deadline: July 31.
