Grief does not do well on its own. Every grieving person needs support in one way or another. Some people need to talk about their grief, others need to work it out, absorb information, create something or be given space to grieve knowing that they are not alone and that they are loved. As unique as each person is, so is the experience of grief. One thing that may resonate with everyone is that grief is simply a nice word for pain.
As we learn to live our lives we must find ways to gradually work through our grief and adjust to our loss as being a part of who we are. It is important to learn how to cope with the intense array of thoughts, emotions and behaviours that accompany grief and to recognize that you are not alone upon this journey. However, the experience may be painful, especially while we try to function in a world that seems to go on as though nothing has happened.
Bailey's Funeral Home Continuing Care Services offers compassionate support in individual and group settings for the entire community. One way of providing this is by offering regular grief seminars which are often facilitated by experienced guest care-givers.
On Thursday, January 26 Bailey's Funeral Home Continuing Care Services will be hosting the first of three seminars this winter at the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre. The topic will be Coping with Grief and its Difficult Emotions. There will be a brief presentation and video about the difficult emotions associated with grief and how to manage them. Make time for yourself and learn practical suggestions to help yourself through grief by attending one or all of these seminars. Seminars are free of charge and open to anyone who has lost someone loved. Contact Crystal Bailey for more information or to register for the seminar.
