Cornerstone Credit Union is in the business of helping people every day and in ways beyond providing financial services.

Cornerstone Credit Union kicked off the New Year by making a difference in the lives of others in Saskatchewan. STARS (Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society) recently received a cheque in the amount of $10,000 on behalf of Cornerstone and its employees.

Employees of Cornerstone take pride in caring – for their members and for their communities. In lieu of employee Christmas gifts, Cornerstone and its employees are providing the gift of time, hope and life-saving transport to critically ill and injured patients in Saskatchewan through the services offered by STARS Air Ambulance.

STARS works together with local EMS, medical staff, firefighters, police and others to bring hope to those who may one day require their emergency assistance.

“STARS would not be possible without the financial support of individuals, service clubs and businesses across Saskatchewan, so we are deeply appreciative of Cornerstone Credit Union’s generous donation. It will help ensure we are there for people in the communities in which Cornerstone serves – and indeed, the rest of Saskatchewan – when they need us most.” – Rod Gantefoer, Executive Director, STARS Foundation, Saskatchewan.

STARS has flown more than 3,000 missions in Saskatchewan since establishing operations in the province in 2012. More than 200 of those missions have been to many of the communities in which Cornerstone Credit Union members and employees reside. Last year alone, STARS provided services on over 75 missions in the Cornerstone region.

In addition to providing emergency care in the air, STARS operates Mobile Education Units (as pictured above), which bring free emergency training to rural practitioners.

Kevin Lukey, Chief Executive Officer of Cornerstone Credit Union, “At Cornerstone, we work together to make a positive impact to our members and communities. The $10,000 donation is a great start to the New Year for our employees, communities and STARS. We are proud to make this donation to such a great organization.”
