Agriculture Week has been unanimously declared by Yorkton Council for Nov. 3 to 9.
Juanita Polegi, Executive Director of the Yorkton Chamber of Commerce made the request at the regular meeting of City Council Monday.
"Whereas the agriculture industry significantly impacts the economy of the City of Yorkton with over 60 businesses directly involved in serving the farming and ranching community; and whereas it is estimated that for every job in the agriculture industry another seven jobs are generated in the economy; and whereas the Yorkton Exhibition Association will hold its 26th Annual Harvest Showdown November 5 - 8, the YEA and the Yorkton Chamber of Commerce respectfully request that City Council proclaim the week of Nov. 3 to 9, Agriculture Week in the City of Yorkton," she explained.
