Council offers nationwide ski pass for 4th and 5th graders

If you are a parent of a Grade 4 or 5 student looking for something to do for Family Day, the Canadian Ski Council has an offer for you.

If you are a parent of a Grade 4 or 5 student looking for something to do for Family Day, the Canadian Ski Council has an offer for you.

The Grade 4 and 5 Snowpass lets kids ski or snowboard three times at each of more than 150 participating ski areas across Canada.

That includes Duck Mountain, which is just about an hour-and-a-half north of Yorkton. For people who don’t mind going a bit further afield Alberta has Hidden Valley in the Cypress Hills, Calgary’s Canada Olympic Park and Lake Louise.

Options in Manitoba include Springhill Winter Park just 15 minutes from downtown Winnipeg and Stony Mountain, also just north of Winnipeg.

The Ski Council started the program 19 years ago to increase participation in recreational skiing and snowboarding by giving young families an opportunity to save some money.

Interested parents can register their kids online at skicanada.org and if they register their children in Grade 4, the pass is good for two years.
