A 27-year-old woman has died from injuries she sustained in a September 7 collision on Hwy 52 approximately one kilometre west of Yorkton.

The woman was travelling east in a two-door Chevrolet Cobalt when she crossed the centre line and collided head on with a semi-trailer.

EMS transported the woman to Yorkton Regional Health Centre where she was evacuated to Regina by STARS Air Ambulance.

On Wednesday, September 10 she succumbed to her injuries.

Cpl. Tim Schwartz of the Yorkton rural RCMP detachment said there was no alcohol involved in the collision and that investigators had ruled out mechanical failure as a possible cause of the crash.

As the woman's vehicle had fully crossed the centre line into the oncoming truck, police believe something may have distracted her although Schwartz said the actual circumstances may never be known.

Police are not releasing the name of the victim at her family's request.

The driver of the truck was not injured.
