CTTCS seeks parent input

Christ the Teacher Catholics Schools is looking to parents to gather more data to improve the environment at schools in the division.

Christ the Teacher Catholics Schools is looking to parents to gather more data to improve the environment at schools in the division.

The administration currently collects information from students through the provincially- sponsored Tell Them From Me (TTFM) survey and from educators through a parallel assessment completed in conjunction
with the TTFM.

The survey asks children and their teachers to rate their school experience in terms of bullying, social-emotional outcomes, physical health outcomes, drivers of student outcomes and, in the case of CTTCS,
spiritual outcomes.

Now CTTCS has launched a similar opportunity for parents to have their say with its Parent/Guardian
Perception Survey.

The anonymous survey is an online questionnaire that will be open until December 15. It takes a similar form to the TTFM asking parents if they strongly agree, agree, disagree or strongly disagree with a number of statements regarding faith formation, student learning, school climate and communication.

Darrell Zaba, CTTCS director of education, said the administration is particularly interested in feedback with respect to bullying.

The survey asks parents to quantify how frequently their children experience physical, verbal, social and/or cyber bullying as never, once or twice, about once a week or several times a week.

Zaba said the results will be analyzed and used to target areas for improvement.

"It's really useful information for the schools," he said.

Zaba believes it is important to get as much feedback as possible.

"They're sending their children to us," he said. "I think it's always valuable to see what their perspective is on how we can move forward."
