Culture days planning underway

Many Saskatchewan people are looking for ways to be more creative.

Many Saskatchewan people are looking for ways to be more creative. Put your camera, cell phones, computers and video cameras on alert and get started! SaskCulture and its Culture Days partners are spearheading an action campaign called "Show Us Your Culture" designed to get everyone involved in something creative leading up to Culture Days.

Show us Your Culture calls on people's creative skills asking them to share stories, photos and videos that express what culture means to them; catch Culture Days promotion in action; capture Saskatchewan's existing creativity with photos of the oldest thing in the yard or other captivating farm art; or create a mini-masterpiece using paper clips. Then, participants can upload their photos to the Culture Days Flickr account and share their talents. Saskatchewan work will be featured as part of virtual Culture Days exhibitions during and following Culture Days.

"Show Us Your Culture is not only encouraging people in Saskatchewan to share their culture with others in the province," explains Laura Hale, Saskatchewan artist and Culture Days Animateur "but also with the rest of the Canada and the world. This is a great opportunity to express who we are as individuals, communities and as a province, by sharing our culture and cultural activity with others."

Culture Days is taking place September 24-26 as part of the larger Culture Week in Saskatchewan celebration. Many communities throughout Saskatchewan will be hosting Culture Days events during the week. For those people who live in communities that may not be holding Culture Days events, or those who just want to do something on their own, or with co-workers, or in classrooms, Show Us Your Culture is a great opportunity.
