For the 10th consecutive year, Canadians ranked credit unions first in overall Customer Service Excellence, among all financial institutions, surpassing all Canadian banks in Ipsos 2014 Best Banking Awards.


For the 10th consecutive year, Canadians ranked credit unions first in overall Customer Service Excellence, among all financial institutions, surpassing all Canadian banks in Ipsos 2014 Best Banking Awards. Credit unions also took sole honors in: Values My Business; and Branch Service Excellence.

"The results of this survey reaffirms what we have always believed to be true; while the products and services we offer are an integral component of our business, we continue to focus on what is most important - providing excellent service, and valuing our members' business."

Survey results show that credit unions also tied for first in the following categories among all financial institutions: Financial Planning and Advice, Live Agent Telephone Banking Excellence, and Automated Telephone Banking Excellence.

The financial services sector continues to evolve, with new, innovative technologies emerging that are drastically changing customer behaviour," says Adrian Murphy, Vice President of Ipsos Reid and leader of the CSI Study. "But at the end of the day, the financial institutions that stay ahead are the ones who continue to set new standards by providing a positive and very personalized customer experience."

Established in 1987, the Ipsos Customer Service Index (CSI) quarterly survey generates the winners of the annual Best Banking Awards. This year's Awards were based on the combined results of 45,428 completed surveys for the 2014 CSI program year ended August 2014, received from a demographically and regionally representative sample of Canadians.
