Dealership sites moving forward

The City continues to work on providing fill which will facilitate the development of both a new Honda dealership, and a new Royal Ford location in the city.

At Yorkton Council's Committee of the Whole meeting Monday an Administration report explained the City had reviewed the Honda development site several times in the past year. Administration has obtained information from the contractor to determine the approximate cost to provide fill as required under the partnership agreement with Pride Holdings.

The project budget based on the most current information was pegged at $393,437, including $314,750 in construction costs.

Gord Shaw, Director of Planning & Engineering with the City said, the contractor has made better progress than anticipated. The drying trend has assisted the contractor in being able to lay down fill material. The site area is also somewhat drier than anticipated given the amount of moisture in 2010 and 2011.

The site area for Royal Ford and Royal Honda is about 80 per cent stripped of organic material.
The focus in the next two weeks will be to load and compact the fill material on the Honda site so that construction on this building can begin in early September or October.
