Derby planned

Sympathy goes out to Willy and Myrna Pastershank and familes on the recent passing of Willy's dad. The Calder Annual Poker Derby will be held on March 6, 2011. Pancake and Sausage Breakfast will start at nine at the Calder Community Rink.

Sympathy goes out to Willy and Myrna Pastershank and familes on the recent passing of Willy's dad.

The Calder Annual Poker Derby will be held on March 6, 2011. Pancake and Sausage Breakfast will start at nine at the Calder Community Rink. Registration will start at nine and Raffle Draws. All snow machines must be back by five o'clock.

Calder's 100th Birthday Celebration is in the making for the weekend of July 30, 2011. Ball games, lawn mower races, Calder Yalenka Independent Dancers, supper and dance. For more information phone the Village Office in Calder at 742-2158.

Well January is gone, February is here. Just think a few more months and the snow will be gone and spring will be here.

The Calder Seniors held their Whist Drive on January 29, 2011 at the Good Neighbor Centre. The following are the winners: 1st Mildred Danylko, 2ndMary Sobkow, 3rd Donna Fustey, low Peter Wereschuk. Pots of Gold winners were Donna Fustey and Mildred Danylko.

The Calder Seniors will be holding their Birthday Social in February. So come out and have some fun.The Calder Blues hockey team took in the MacNutt Hockey Tournament on the weekend of January 29 and 30.

The Calder students have been using the skating ice on Days 2, 4 and 6 as part of their Physical Education Program. All students must wear hockey helmets at all times. The Calder SCC purchased several helmets for the students to use during the skating season.

Calder students, staff and family members will be going to Asessippi on February 18, 2011 for their skiing trip. Hope everyone has a great time.

The winter break will start on February 19 to February 27. First day back will be on February 28, 2011 for all students. So hope everyone has a safe and fun break from school.

Mrs. Sobkow and Miss Towell attended a two day Math Mentor Seminar in January. Mrs. Sobkow also attended a two day seminar on the Office of Treaty Commissioners.

Some of the Calder students visited the Water Plant in Calder. Carl Kohut was there to show the students around and answer any questions they had for him.
