Through the performance May 10, Dr. Brass School Performing Arts Academy students addressed the subject of climate change.

YORKTON - A Yorkton audience was recently treated to a performance by the ‘It’s Up to You and Me’.

Through the performance May 10, Dr. Brass School Performing Arts Academy students addressed the subject of climate change through performances of jazz, musical theatre, ballet, tap and contemporary, woven together through dialogue that recommended solutions that everyone can achieve.

A highlight was the monologues that recreated the Conference of the Parties, where students spoke in their native language including Ukrainian and Tagalog, noted instructor Tammy Kostersky.

Grade 4 and Grade 1 students made cameo appearances as they joined the quest for solutions through a very touching dance performance.

Yorkdale Central School and MC Knoll School were entertained by the performance May 11th for a school encore.

The Dr. Brass Performing Arts Academy is under the guidance of Kostersky with drama instruction taught by Carrie Pengilly.

This unique program provides students the opportunity to explore dance and drama during the afternoons, while attaining academic outcomes, noted Kostersky.

The academy has spots for students experienced in dance who want to increase their skill level, and non-experienced dancers, wanting to explore performing arts within an academic setting.
