A shower for Mom-to-be, Amanda Chopping, was held on Sunday afternoon in the Hut. Family and friends attending enjoyed a couple games before Amanda opened the gifts and they were passed around for all to admire. A lovely lunch was served before everyone headed home.

Also on Sunday afternoon, a service was held at the Dubuc Memorial Hall to celebrate the life of John Freed who passed away in March at the age of 105 years. John was born in the Freedhome district south of Dubuc and lived in the community all his life until, at age 104, when he was no longer able to live alone, he moved to Swan River to be closer to family. John's children, Maurie (Ted) Ayllon of Atlanta, Georgia; Paul (Kathy) Freed of Swan River, MB and Raymond Freed of Victoria were able to attend. They shared many of their memories with everyone while leading the congregation in song and prayer. Maurie's daughter, Paola, John's oldest grandchild, reminisced about experiences with Grandpa on behalf of all the grandchildren. Sympathy is extended to all of John's family and many friends.
