August 3, a village by-election was held to fill the seat vacated when Councilor Terry Loutitt moved to Esterhazy earlier this year. Newly elected Councilor, Dennis Toth, bought coffee for 20 thirsty drinkers at Saturday morning coffee row while his wife, Maureen, brought Rice Krispie goodies for everyone's sweet tooth. Thanks folks, we always enjoy "free" coffee and delicious treats.

Happy birthday wishes to Effie Skene who celebrated a birthday on Saturday, Aug 6. Her nieces, Lucille Stradeski of Grenfell and Vivian Talbot, both visited with her to help her celebrate at the Broadview Care Home where she currently resides.

The community was saddened to hear of the passing of Valerie Flagel and wish to extend heartfelt sympathy to her parents, Rosa and Pete Flagel of Melville, her children and her extended family. Valerie was born in Dubuc 50 years ago and, although, she lived in neighbouring communities as an adult, she always called Dubuc home. Funeral services were held on Friday, August 05, 2011.

Lois Schick, now living in Sedley, spent a couple days last week back home in Dubuc. She had a bit of business to look after and caught up on some visiting with former friends and neighbours. She was an overnight guest with Mary Forsberg.
