Faye Spaetzel from Sydney, BC called to let the community know that her cousin, Alice Clayton, had passed away at the Mt. Saint Joseph Hospital in Vancouver, BC on May 31st at the age of 89.

Selma (Ogren) and Ed Clayton of the Freedhome district were her parents. Following the war, Alice spent her life as a nurse in BC but always kept in touch with folks back "home" in Dubuc.

On Saturday, June 04, Darlene (England) Stevenson of Stockholm treated everyone to coffee and some home baking at the Hut coffee row for her birthday on June 6th. Darlene Yuke also supplied fresh buns for everyone. A little birdie told us it is also her birthday very soon. There were 17 in attendance to enjoy a visit while partaking of the goodies. Thanks, ladies and many happy returns!

Joan Wilson motored to Lipton for the weekend to help her sister, Pat Todd, hold a garage sale and do a little packing in preparation for a move into Regina.

Sympathy is extended to Sharon Clark and her family on the sudden passing of her brother-in-law Ernie Perkins from Selkirk, MB on June 2nd. Sharon traveled to Selkirk by bus to spend a few days with her sister, Velma.

In the past week, we welcomed Doug Morley home from a week long holiday to Arizona. It was also great to have Susan and Leon Powell back in town after a 6-day business trip to Missouri.

The monthly community potluck supper was held on June 8th at the Hut with 34 people in attendance. To celebrate her birthday happening on June 9, Darlene Yuke cooked a Turkey, cabbage rolls and all the trimmings to compliment the other pot luck offerings and supplied a lovely birthday cake to add to the wonderful array of desserts. Everyone joined in to sing "Happy Birthday" to Darlene. Welcome out-of- towners in attendance were Margie and Ed Oldham of Regina who were at their vacation home on Nicholas Street for a couple days of visiting and yard work and, also, Christopher Hess from Switzerland who is currently in Canada as a hired man at the Rainier Devries farm. Christopher is enjoying Canada, the international farming experience and visiting with the Canadian people he has met so far. Garland Thiele won the door prize which was a fruit basket donated by Nina and Earle Moller. Joe Kaczur was the lucky 50/50 winner. Another successful evening and, needless to say, no one went away hungry. If they did, it was their own fault!
