Vivian Talbot brought cookies to coffee row on Saturday of the May long for a belated birthday celebration. There were 20 people out to enjoy coffee on her pocketbook! Darlene Yuke also arrived at coffee that morning with baking to share "just because", something she does quite often, in fact. Thanks, ladies!
On the May long Saturday, Lanny Topliss celebrated reaching a new decade at a birthday party hosted by his children: Tertia, Regina; Delaney (Mike) Regina; Kiley (Leah)and daughter Hailey, Balgonie and Danette (Harley), Ebenezer and 'adopted' daughter, Celine, Regina. Other out of town family members in attendance were brothers, Ron (Denise) Topliss from Saskatoon and Larry (Chris) Topliss from Yorkton; cousins Kent (Dana) Topliss and children from Regina and Charles (Pat) Johnson from Kamsack; niece, Charla Topliss of Red Deer and nephew Jared (Heidi) Topliss and Hayden of Yorkton.
Terry Loutitt of Esterhazy, chauffered by Elaine Kaczmar, was a visitor back home in Dubuc on Saturday of the long weekend and dropped in at the Topliss birthday party.
Vincent Clark and friend, Corinne of Saskatoon visited with his mom, Sharon Clark, on the long week-end. They also stopped in to visit at Lanny's party.
The monthly community birthday party was held on May 25 at the Hut. There was a meager group to begin with but by the time coffee and cake was served several more had shown up. The cake was supplied by the only May birthday guest in attendance, Joan Kerr. Many happy returns, Joan! Joan is our village administrator and opens the village office from 11-4 every Wednesday and Thursday for business.
Sympathy to all the extended Smulan family relatives and friends on the passing of Brian Lloyd Smulan of Lemberg, Sk. on May 23, 2011 at the age of 60. Sincere sympathy from the community of Dubuc goes to his wife, Carole; sons, Stephen, Jeffery and Trevor; brother Lyle (Lea) and their family. Brian was the youngest son of the late Orbin and Frances Smulan who lived at the original Smulan homestead in the Larson district SW of Dubuc in the 1950's.
Leona and Joe Kaczur, James and Vivian Talbot and Murray and Irene Bawden were Regina visitors on Sat., May 28 to attend the 70th birthday supper held for Al Schick, formerly of Dubuc, now living at Sedley. They enjoyed a visit with Al, wife Lois, daughters, Tamara, Tanna, & Tracey and their families. Tara and her family were unable to attend that evening.
Earle and Nina Moller accompanied by Garland Thiele were Regina visitors last Monday for a medical appointment.
Peter and Audrey Nielsen motored to Saskatoon also on Monday where Peter kept a surgical appointment. Hope you're soon back in the "swing" of things, Peter.
