Rick Yuke took a few days off from trucking to spend some time with his Mum, Darline Yuke. at the Prairie Manor. Rick brought a friend with him and Mum quite enjoyed her company. Echo took a while to warm up as this four legged wonder rules the household and is very suspicious of strangers. Darlene had a good New Year and wishes everyone, including the Coffee Row gang, a huge "Happy New Year".

Happy Birthday wishes go out to Laurein Johnson who celebrated her birthday last Saturday. Audrey (Johnson) Nielsen and Norman Johnson motored to Regina to have a visit with their sister on her special day. Vivian (Andersen) Talbot had been to visit her cousin, Laurein, earlier in the week when she was in Regina for a medical appointment. They all visited with Marvin Johnson as well.

A Ukrainian New Year's hors d'ouvers party was hosted by Jim and Vivian Talbot on Jan 14. Along with a few local friends and former farm neighbours, out of town guests included Lloyd and Judy Clauson, Jim and Jean Kulcsar and Chris Topliss. all from Yorkton and Ray and Velma (Talbot) Fuchs of Grayson. The evening of visiting and playing games went all too quickly. Rumor has it that they tried to find a token Ukrainian in the lot but were unsuccessful!!

Vivian Talbot spent a week in Regina with her grandchildren, Colton and Jayme Markwart, while their parents, Dayna and Patrick Markwart were on a warm winter holiday in Jamaica for a week. While in Regina, Vivian had a wonderful visit with Ruth Venaas and brings greetings from her to "all the great people back home". Ruth was 98 last August and still keeps busy with her knitting and crocheting. She does most of her visiting on the phone now and loves any news from Dubuc where she says her heart will always be.

The Village of Dubuc elected officials held their regular monthly council meeting for January. Joan Kerr serves as Administrator, Marvin Horachek as Mayor and Cara Naylor and Dennis Toth are the councillors. There are quite a few history books "From Here to Yesterday" left from the 2005 printing (An update to the 1980 volume). They decided that these books would be sold for $5 each and would be available for purchase at The Hut as well as the Village Office. The price of $5 per book does not cover the cost of mailing, if that is necessary.

Judy Talbot passes along Christmas Greetings from Cindy (Langley) Gossling of Outlook to everyone - as Cindy requested in her annual Christmas note to Judy. Happy birthday greetings go to Cindy for her birthday on Jan. 15. When Cindy was the United Church minister for Dubuc, she would celebrate her birthdays with Edith Simle (15th), Lillian Clauson (15th), Mary Forsberg (23) and Gladys Simle (2) and many others at the senior's January/monthly birthday party at The Hut. Happy birthday greetings to all these ladies on their recent birthdays.

Edith Simle was the guest of honor at the monthly birthday party hosted by the Maple Street Manor where she is now a resident. Laura Lomenda entertained all in attendance and then birthday lunch/cake was served. Attending from Dubuc were friends: Bun Flick, Nina Moller, Gladys Simle, Mary Nagy and her son, Murray and Jocelyn Simle. Judy Talbot of Sumner Place was also in attendance. Hope you have settled into your new home, Edith, and best wishes from Dubuc and Community.
