From starting school recycling programs to engaging in groundbreaking scientific research, high school students are demonstrating their leadership across Canada by responding to environmental issues at local, national and global levels.

Through the Toyota Earth Day Scholarship Program, Toyota Canada Foundation and Earth Day Canada are acknowledging the valuable work of these students and are rewarding their efforts. The Toyota Earth Day Scholarship Program offers 20 regional scholarships of $5 000 each to high school students entering their first year of college or university in any program of study. One exceptional student, chosen from the regional winners, will also be presented with the Toyota Earth Day Scholarship National Award and a Panasonic notebook computer at a National Award Ceremony.

You can find more information about the program and the scholarship application at www.earthday.ca/scholarship. The deadline to apply is January 31, 2012.

Earth Day Canada, a national environmental charity (# 13195 1378RR0001) founded in 1990, provides Canadians with the practical knowledge and tools they need to help the environment. To date, 140 students across Canada have been awarded with scholarships since the program's inception in 2003, totalling an investment of $700,000 in the development of tomorrow's environmental leaders.
