A 33-year-old former Sacred Heart High School student accused of murdering two Regina women is now under investigation in the disappearance of another.

In a special report published last week, CBC probed the connection between Clayton Eichler and Kim Cruikshank who has been missing since March 23, 2013.

Although police are not calling Eichler a suspect in the disappearance, they have confirmed they are looking at his possible involvement.

Kim’s sister Kristen Cruikshank told the CBC investigative team that Kim and Eichler had been friends for a long time and that she sometimes babysat his son.

Kristen said that Eichler had been looking for more from her sister in the days leading up to her disappearance.

The investigation has revealed that Eichler has a long and troubled history with drugs and violence. He first went to rehab when he was 18 years old and in 2004 did jail time for trafficking.

In 2008 he was convicted of assaulting Brennan Ungar, the mother of his son.

Gary Ungar, owner of a prominent Yorkton construction business, told CBC he believes his daughter is lucky to be alive in light of the charges Eichler currently faces.

In December 2013 he was arrested for the September 2013 murder of 21-year-old Kelly Goforth. Goforth’s body was found in a dumpster in downtown Regina.

Then, on May 9, 2014, police charged him with a second murder, that of Richele Bear, 23, who was last seen in August 2013.

Finally, in December 2014, he was charged with the aggravated sexual assault of another aboriginal woman, who he allegedly choked with duct tape and a garden hose in 2012.

Kristen Cruickshank does not hold out much hope her sister is still alive and said she is sickened by the fact Eichler has been charged with murder.

Eichler has not entered pleas on the charges, but is scheduled to do so in the fall of this year.

If he is convicted of both murders he will be the first serial killer in Regina’s history.
