A public seminar on the problem of elder abuse will be held this Monday by St. Gerard's Social Justice Committee in Yorkton.

The presentation at St. Gerard's Parish Hall, titled "Explaining Elder Abuse," will discuss the types, indicators, and risk factors of elder abuse, as well as appropriate responses and methods of prevention.

"It's basically just to put the awareness out there that this is happening," says Janette Tremblay, a member of St. Gerard's Social Justice Committee. "It's not just for people who are being abused. It's for the public, for anybody interested in finding out more."

No registration is required for the session, which runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on October 17. Participants should bring a bagged lunch.
