Canada's 2011 federal election is on Monday, May 2.

In Yorkton, primary polling stations will be located at St. Mary's Cultural Centre (240 Wellington Avenue), the Ukrainian Orthodox Auditorium (38 Bradbrooke Drive), and the Prairie Harvest Christian Life Centre (72 Melrose Avenue).

Polling stations will also be set up in the city's nursing homes for the residents of those facilities.

Registered voters should have already received a voter information card by mail informing them of which polling station to visit. Anyone who did not receive a voter information card can still register by visiting the closest polling station on the day of the election, bringing with them proof of identity and address. Alternately, a voter can take an oath and have a fellow citizen from the same polling division vouch for him or her.

Polls will be open between 7:30 am and 7:30 pm. Employers in Canada are required to provide employees with paid time off to vote if the employee's hours of work do not allow for three consecutive hours to vote during the time the polls are open.

The local Elections Canada office, located within SIGN on Broadway, can be reached for further information by calling 1-866-354-7155.
