The Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure's five paint trucks will travel further than the distance around the equator this construction season, creating more than 52,000 km of white and yellow lines and applying about 1.2 million litres of paint on Saskatchewan highways.
"Lines are crucial for highway safety, but they fade with wear and tear from traffic, snowplow blades and the elements," Highways and Infrastructure Minister Don McMorris said. "Repainting these lines is an important part of regular highway maintenance and motorists should proceed carefully when our trucks are at work."
Motorists are reminded that pavement marking continues into the winter.
New construction work underway this week includes a $1 million bridge replacement on Highway 2 north of Findlater.
