Pavlo is among Canada's most successful musicians playing more than 150 shows worldwide each year, and having sold over half a million records including two gold-selling albums.

And tonight Pavlo will take to the Anne Portnuff Theatre stage as part of the Yorkton Arts Council's Stars For Saskatchewan series.

"I played Yorkton before, about seven, eight years ago," he told Yorkton This Week, adding while small shows are different than big-city venues, he enjoys the closeness achieved with the audience.

Pavlo said a sold-out venue is always great, feeding his own natural enthusiasm for a craft he has long loved.

Pavlo said it has been more than 30-years since he first developed his "love affair for the guitar," adding "that's still what I have today. I love to play guitar."

That love affair has kept Pavlo on the road doing concerts and promoting eight recordings, with a ninth, Six String Blvd, releasing this month. The Yorkton show is part of Pavlo's 'Six String Blvd World Tour' which will include dates in Canada; the USA, Germany, United Kingdom, China, India, Singapore, and South Korea.

As for Six String Blvd Pavlo said the disk goes back to his earlier approach to his music.

"I'm very excited about it," he said, adding "it's my first studio album in a while," his other recent works having been recorded live.

"Once again this one is sort of back to my roots. It's all instrumental, Mediterranean, all Pavlo."

Pavlo said it is good to get back to what are the basics for him since it has in a sense rejuvenated him.

"At times as an artist we all sort of feel stale," he said, adding with the new disk he feels his creative side has once again ignited in creating music he is very pleased with.

Pavlo credits his renewed enthusiasm to working with varied artists on tour, adding he has drawn from those experiences on Six String Blvd.

Having nine recordings to draw from Pavlo said he does not prepare a playlist for his live shows, instead letting his shows develop naturally, meaning no two are ever exactly alike.

"A three-minute song could end up being 14," he said, adding he could well end up out in the audience interacting with people.

Pavlo said that is one thing he tries to do, stay in contact with his fans. He said he has found the Internet an amazing way to do that.

"A lot of the industry is still trying to work out how to use the technology," he said, adding in his mind things have "never been better."

"What an artist wants is to be able to connect to his fans," he said, adding through sites such as Facebook he can talk to people directly.

Similarly, Pavlo said the Internet is a great tool allowing artists to find fans for all styles of music.

"There's never been a better time in music than the present day," he said.
