The Yorkton Film Festival is proud to announce that submissions for the 2016 Festival have come to a close. The submissions opened in October of 2015 and closed on January 31, 2016.

“We’re very happy with the interest in the festival, and we’re very pleased to have received so many submissions.” Said Executive Director Randy Goulden. “We received over 200 submissions this year, and we noticed an upward trend of more films coming in from a lot of provinces and territories.”

With submissions now closed, the festival office is preparing the films for adjudication by the industry member juries.

“We have many juries, that like our submissions, range from coast to coast; from Vancouver to Halifax, we have juries getting ready to receive and review the films and determine our nominees and winners for this year’s festival.” Goulden added.

The first round category nominees will be announced in late March. Second round craft nominees will be announced in mid-April. The festival will be held on Thursday, May 26 through to Sunday, May 29, 2016.
