A Yorkton Film Festival (YFF) board member has been recognized by her employer for her volunteer contributions to the festival.
Rogers Communications presented Joanne McDonald with its Community Involvement Award last week.
McDonald is the general manager of City TV Saskatchewan, which is owned by Rogers.
“I think it’s fantastic that Rogers provides this type of recognition and it is an honour to win this award,” she said. “I think it’s fair to say that Saskatchewan runs on volunteers, especially in the arts and culture sector, and it is important to me personally to contribute to organizations like the Yorkton Film Festival to help grow and enrich our communities.“
Randy Goulden, YFF executive director, was thrilled.
“Joanne has been on our board since 2009 and has been an absolute joy,” Goulden said. “She is committed to ensuring the festival continues to be relevant and offer the best experience for media industry members and the public.”
As part of the recognition Rogers made a $$1,000 donation to the film fest.
“That’s really very nice, especially when you consider how many employees Rogers has,” Goulden said.
