Fire at Ram Industries

A fire at Ram Industries was reported to Yorkton Fire Protectives Services just after midnight Thursday. The fire department remains on the scene and is in the process of extinguishing remaining parts of the fire.

A fire at Ram Industries was reported to Yorkton Fire Protectives Services just after midnight Thursday.  The fire department remains on the scene and is in the process of extinguishing remaining parts of the fire. 

“Until the fire is completely extinguished we’re not able to conduct an in depth investigation, but at this point it looks like an industrial accident,” said Fire Chief Trevor Morrissey.   A thorough investigation will be conducted by Yorkton Fire Protective Services, in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA), the RCMP and Ram Industries, said the Chief. 

An update for media will be provided later today.    

Due to damage to operational systems at Ram Industries they have asked the City to distribute the following statement to media on their behalf. 

About midnight on February 13th, 2020, a fire broke out in the production area of Ram Industries on York Road in Yorkton SK.

The Yorkton Fire Department was immediately called by personnel working in the facility at the time.   Fortunately, no one was injured in this incident.

The Yorkton Fire Department remain on scene this morning to ensure the fire is fully extinguished before access is granted.  The Company is cooperating with investigators as they determine the cause.

Ram Industries and Maki Services expect to return to full operations to ensure customer commitments are not impacted by this unfortunate situation.
