A 37-year-old Key First Nation man has been remanded in custody pending a bail hearing March 10 on an assault with a weapon charge.
Jason Troy Papequash appeared in Yorkton court Monday after being arrested Saturday when Kamsack RCMP responded to a complaint from the First Nation.
Papequash faces a total of eight charges related to the incident including assault with a weapon, possession of a firearm contrary to a court order, careless use of a firearm, two other firearm related charges and
three counts of failing to comply
with a probation order.
Papequash also has outstanding charges out of Melville for mischief and failing to comply with and undertaking. He is scheduled to appear in Kamsack court March 10.
Meanwhile, on March 2, Kamsack police arrested an armed robbery suspect who allegedly held up the Prairie Family Centre grocery store in Kamsack on Sunday and got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Lorraine Mary Cote of the Cote First Nation has been charged with robbery with an offensive weapon, wearing a disguise with intent to commit an offence, and uttering threats.
Cote was scheduled to make her first court appearance in Kamsack Provincial Court yesterday.
The results of that appearance were not available as of press time.
