This week Animal Parts and their new EP "Six Arms To Hold You" found its way to the top of my pile. Animal Parts is a folk band that comes out of Toronto. Animal Parts is fronted by Joshua Cockerill who's voice really ties all the songs together that makes this album a solid offering.

The EP is only six songs and "Six Arms To Hold You" has few really good songs on the album. The EP starts out strong with 'Where The Heart Is' it has an upbeat tempo for a folk song and is one of the stronger songs on the EP. Even though there are good songs on the EP there just happens to be one of the most annoying song I have heard. That song is 'Are You Man?' The lyrics of the song was well written, but the whistling and the instrumentals just become annoying with each listen. Luckily the rest of the EP compensates for that one misstep. The song I like most on the EP was 'Grey Owl Call, The'. I liked the lyrics, and the lead singer's voice really worked on the song.

Animal Parts is a folk band that is worth checking out. While "Six Arms To Hold You" isn't the best EP or album I have heard, it is by no means among what I would consider the worst I have heard. Folk music is one of my favorite genres and this album would fit nicely into any fan of folk music's collection.

Jus Post Bellum
"Oh July''
7-out-of-10

One of the things I like about folk music is that it can be inspired by historical events. Jus Post Bellum is one of those bands that was inspired by history. Jus Post Bellum latest album is "Oh July" and it is a good one. Jus Post Bellum is solid on all three front the vocals of Geoffrey Wilson and Hannah Jensen work well together. The songs are well written and the music that accompanies the songs are very well done.

'Sharp Was the River Bending' is a solid song that is on the album, the male and female vocals compliment each other nicely. Hannah has a beautiful voice that really ups the overall enjoyment of the album. The songs in which she are featured in are probably the best of the bunch and there are more than a few in which she is prevalent in. My favorite song of the album would be 'For the Broken Hearted'. For me all the aspect that make up a good song, this song has, and again Hannah Jensen's vocals made the difference for me. 'Abe and Johnny' is another good song from album and is one of those songs that was inspired by history.

"Oh July" is a strong offering from Jus Post Bellum that warrants a listen. You won't be disappointed by this album. The songs are deep with meaning and it is easy to get lost in them. This is one of the better folk albums you can find out there and would be a worthy addition to anyone's Ipod.
