A former Yorkton RCMP officer and hockey coach has been committed to trial for sexual assault involving three young boys in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
John Alan Davidson was originally arrested on sexual assault charges he allegedly committed against eight youths in Clearwater, British Columbia during the 1970s and early 1980s. In the ensuing investigation, three Yorkton youths also came forward resulting in additional charges.
Last week at a preliminary hearing in Yorkton Provincial Court a judge determined a trial on the Yorkton charges could proceed. The case will be tried at Court of Queen’s Bench. A trial date has not yet been set.
Earlier this year, the BC Provincial Court at Kamloops also committed Davidson to face trial on his charges in that province.
