Brett Franklin, Branch Manager for RBC Royal Bank in Yorkton presented a cheque for $2,500 to Ross Fisher of The Health Foundation, to meet RBC's Associate Sponsor commitment for the Charity Road Race. Organization is well underway for the annual event which will take place on Sunday August 18th this year. All proceeds this year will be used to help purchase new equipment for the Cardiac program / stroke clinic.

"We are very fortunate to have RBC Royal Bank join with us as our Associate Sponsor, said Ross Fisher, Executive Director of The Health Foundation. Events like this can't take place if you don't have significant sponsorship, and we are very fortunate that RBC and the staff at RBC have been so very supportive of the work of The Health Foundation."

"This is the kind of activity RBC likes to be involved with," said Brett Franklin, RBC Royal Bank Branch Manager. "The proceeds of the Charity Road Race are used to buy equipment that will enhance and improve our local healthcare. Healthcare affects everyone throughout this whole region; and if we can help to improve our local healthcare we know we are benefiting our customers, our staff and the community of east central Saskatchewan generally. In addition to being the associate sponsor for the Charity Road Race, RBC Royal Bank has staff participate in the race and volunteer the day of the event.

The Charity Road Race features six events: a half marathon, a 10 km relay event and individual runs of 10km, 5km, and a 2km junior race. As well, there is a family walk. The 10 km relay features teams of 4 people, with each person running 2.5 km. All funds raised this year will go toward the purchase of equipment we need for the Cardiac program / stroke clinic.

For those who like to run competitively, once again our 10 km race is part of the Timex Road Race Series. As well, the Charity Road Race will host the provincial 10km Championship race this year.

There are great prizes for raising pledges and for winning one of the races; once again we are giving gift cards to those who reach fundraising thresholds. The more money you raise the larger the gift card you will be awarded.

The Charity Road Race is both a run and a fundraising event. Most participants are simply out to enjoy the day and to finish whatever race they entered. It is not a real competitive race, and most runners compete with themselves more than with others. However, for those who are competitive, the 10 km run is part of the Timex Road Race.
