Kyle Braeden Furness, the 20-year-old Yorkton man charged with the June murder of Jimmy Ray Wiebe, had his second appearance in Yorkton Provincial Court last Thursday.

Appearing via video, Furness consented to skip the customary preliminary hearing for his first-degree murder charge and move directly into a trial by judge without jury at the next sitting of the Court of Queen's Bench.

A second charge against Furness was revealed at this time: breaking and entering into the Esso service station on Gladstone Avenue and Smith Street on June 15, five days before Wiebe's murder at the Smith Street Shell Station. The upcoming trial will address both of these charges.

A date for Furness's trial was not set at this time. He will enter pleas on both charges at the start of the trial proceedings.
