The Yorkton municipal RCMP is trying to track down 10 handguns stolen last week from Home Hardware.

On Nov. 19, Alex Myrowich, the owner of the hardware store on Broadway Street East, was alerted to a break in by an alarm call at approximately 4 a.m.

Thieves had smashed the front door and somehow managed to breach a firearms cabinet.

Myrowich said he did not know how they managed to get into the secure cabinet.

RCMP spokesperson Mandy Maier confirmed that the guns were pistols and revolvers, but could not be more specific. She did not know if ammunition was also stolen.

Police are being very tightlipped about the crime as the investigation is ongoing.

Myrowich declined to comment further as well.
