Haunted House plan needs community help

Halloween is only weeks away, and Blake DeJong is hoping that in that time a haunted house can be developed in the city to create a few scares and screams for people, and to raise funds for a good cause.

Halloween is only weeks away, and Blake DeJong is hoping that in that time a haunted house can be developed in the city to create a few scares and screams for people, and to raise funds for a good cause.

DeJong said he hopes to have the house open Oct. 28 - 30, with the proceeds targeted to the Yorkton Boys and Girls Club.

However, to pull the project together, DeJong said he needs some help to transform the Third Avenue house.

"We're looking for some people to spent some time helping out," he told Yorkton This Week Monday. He added it's "the first time I've undertake something like this."

On addition, DeJong said he is looking for donations of Halloween decorations to help with the transformation of the house. The house is being designed for all ages.

To help promote the house DeJong said he has a Facebook page, which can be accessed by searching 2010 Yorkton Haunted House.

Anyone with decorations, or time to help out can call DeJong at 620-2029 or email at yorktonhauntedhouse@live.ca
