Health Chairs create forum

Chairs of Saskatchewan's health region have decided to meet quarterly to share ideas through what they are terming a 'chair's forum'.

Sunrise Health Region chair Lawrence Chomos told the regular board meeting last Wednesday that the chairs had met in January, and decided to get together quarterly moving forward.

"It's a way to discuss things that pertain to Boards and Board operation," he said, citing as an example sharing "Board improvement plans."

Chomos said the forum became timely after the Saskatchewan Association of Health Organizations changed how it operates. He said with "a different format" SAHO is no longer the same vehicle it was in terms of sharing Board issues.

The new quarterly meetings will help Boards share what is working, and also how to avoid issues that might arise.

As a province the mantra has become Think as One, Oct as One in terms of better patient health care, said Chomos, adding have the new forum is just another way to make that happen from a regional health board perspective.
