The 18th annual Gala of The Health Foundation will take place on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at St. Mary's Cultural Centre in Yorkton. This year's theme is "A Gala Evening in Paris".

"We've never had Paris as a theme, but we are excited about this year's theme. Paris has huge history, and when you think about Paris thoughts of rich food, music, dancing, art and romance are evoked. It's perfect for a Gala evening" said Diane Rusnak, Chair of the Gala Committee. "Our committee has had a wonderful time planning the menu; we want to make sure this is a very memorable evening for our guests."

"The last several Gala Evenings have sold out and have been huge successes, and we are going to improve and build on that success by making Gala better every year. For those who like to dance Gala is of course a must, as we always feature a live band that can play a range of music and keep the dance floor full. Our band this year is the Crawdaddy's, who have played for us before; they are back by popular demand," continued Mrs. Rusnak.

In addition to fabulous food and live music Gala has several other wonderful events to enhance the evening for our guests:

This year Kristen Weber-Karcha with Memories to Last a Lifetime and Stephanie Buckle with All About Flowers will look after the decorating for Gala. Partnering with these two businesses will ensure our decorations are outstanding;

Mitch Hippsley, of Photography by Mitch, will take complimentary portraits of guests;

Sherring Gold Jewellers is once again donating a fabulous piece of jewellery for us to raffle; and, of course,

Gala has a fabulous Silent Auction, limited to 40 select items donated by the business community from throughout the region.

"We are pleased to have Morris Industries returning as our Presenting Sponsor. Morris Industries has been very supportive of our Gala Night, and have been our Presenting sponsors for seven years now.

Gala is held on a Saturday as we find that makes it easier for our guests to attend," continued Mrs. Rusnak. It also means we can start a few things earlier, like the portraits that are offered to our guests. We like to have the portraits taken by the time supper is served. That means the evening itself is free for enjoying cocktails, a wonderful meal and a great dance band."

Over the years, the Gala events have purchased over $403,000 of important medical equipment for the region's healthcare facilities. This year the proceeds of Gala will go toward the purchase of new Cardiac Stress Test equipment for the Regional Hospital.

Seating for Gala will be limited to 350 people. Gala evening has sold out in past years and we need to limit the guests to properly plan for the evening. We don't like to crowd the dance floor.

We suggest that those planning to attend should get their table organized and order their tickets now. Ticket order forms are available in person from The Health Foundation office at 41 Betts Avenue in Yorkton. Please call 786-0506 - or order from The Health Foundation website: www.thehealthfoundation.ca
