The Sunrise Health Region again allocated $30,000 in Health Promotion Grants.
For the 2014-15 year 20 projects in 13 communities within the region received grant dollars, Tracy Bielinski told the annual monthly meeting of the SHR Board last Wednesday in the city.
There had been 34 grant requests totalling $59,452, but there is only $30,000 available each year.
For comparison Bielinski said requests in 2013-14 totalled $83,574, with 22 projects in 16 communities receiving $29,000.
In terms of eligibility Bielinski said the criteria is kept simple so that there are “no barriers for communities to apply for funds.”
In general terms projects should align with Sunrise’s Strategic Plan, in particular to improve population health through health promotion, protection and disease prevention, and collaborating with community organizations to close the health disparity gap.
